Anil Kapoor Calls His Transition From Leading Man To Main Characters ‘Big Decision’: Wasn’t Disappointed
Anil Kapoor is an actor known for defying age. His personality and his charm at 65 can enrage young actors. Lately, Anil Kapoor has been seen playing main characters in the film. He played the father role of Priyanka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor in Dil Dhadakne Do and Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga and will play a similar role in Jug Jugg Jeeyo by Raj Mehta with Kiara Advani and Varun Dhawan. Recently, Anil opened up about his transition from starring to playing senior roles and called it the best decision.
During his conversation with Film Companion, Anil recalled how everyone told him to wait another 8-10 years for the transition and continue playing the so-called salable type of leading man. “I said, ‘I don’t want to go through this stress right now. Just let me transition and start making good characters and let the young guy take on those responsibilities, so they’re not on my shoulders. It was a great decision on my part, I was not disappointed in myself. These are times when you have to be more realistic and not be disillusioned,” he added.
From now on, Anil is looking forward to the release of Thar with his son Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor. The lead actor will be seen playing a cop in the film which marks Harsh’s production debut. Thar is set to release on May 6 on Netflix.
