Video footage filmed by fans of Nita StraussThe January 15 performance at the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania can be seen below.

The autumn 2021 stage of Nitait is “The Winter Desert” The tour kicked off Nov. 10 in New Orleans, Louisiana and ended Dec. 18 in Angola, Indiana.

Earlier this month, Nita spoke to Terrie Carr from Morristown, New Jersey radio station 105.5WDHA on the progress of writing and recording sessions for its 2018 sequel “Controlled Chaos” solo debut. She said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “The recording of the album is almost finished. We are just waiting for a few singers. The guitars are finished, the drums, the bass – everything is finished.

“It’s my first time collaborating with singers on anything, so it’s a bit of a waiting game – it tests my patience a bit – but it’s worth it in the end,” said she continued.

“We’re going to do half and half – so six instrumental tracks and six guest vocal tracks.”

In a separate interview with “The Mistress Carrie Podcast”, Nita said of his decision to make the next LP “half vocals and half instrumentals”: I felt, and the label and everyone agreed, that it’s still important for me to keep my guitarist identity and not to branch out too much and go, ‘Okay, well, now they’re just guests.’ Leave me a little bit more of what makes me who I am, which is the instrumental shred. And the instrumental pieces that I wrote on this record are, I think, better than anything I did on the first — definitely more… I don’t know if it could be more emotional but it’s very emotional pieces of music and I think a little better crafted this time around So I think all the songs in general are more well thought out, better put together this time around. And I have some of my absolute favorites [singers guesting on it]. I have three amazing female singers on this album so far. And there’s still a few things to figure out [to be determined]. And then we should be ready to go out next spring.”

In October, Nita share “Dead Inside”, his first new music since the release of his critically acclaimed debut solo album “Controlled Chaos” in 2018. The track is his very first solo collaboration with a singer, David Draiman, leader of grammys-nominated rock icons DISTURBED.

Strauss played with Cooper since 2014 when she replaced Australian musician and former michael jackson player Orianthi. She joined Alice in time for a mammoth MOTLEY CRUE tower. She was recommended to Cooper by the legendary rocker’s former bassist and WINGER leader Kip Winger.

Nita published “Controlled Chaos” acclaimed by fans and the media, with Metal injection calling it “a great debut which – as its creator intended – leaves no doubt”, and guitar world indicating ““Controlled Chaos” is a panoramic view of Nita Strauss‘s many assets”. To date, the album has amassed 6.7 million streams worldwide, with music videos for the singles “Our Most Desperate Hour”, “Chaos”, “Alegria” and “Trench of the Marianas” generating more than 3 million Youtube views.

Besides playing with Cooper, Nita also performed with the R&B star jermaine jackson, early MTV darlings FATAL WOMAN, video game supergroup CRITICAL STRIKE and popular tribute band IRON WOMEN.

In April 2020, Nita spear “Rock Guitar Basics” – an online guitar teaching program in three modules suitable for learners of all levels. The course is available on www.jeveuxjouerguitar.com.

NitaThe live show is mostly instrumental in nature, combining originals with covers.

MANILA, Philippines — Rappler celebrated its 10th anniversary on Jan. 7 with an online celebration called #ADecadeofCourage.

Between discussions about Rappler’s brand of journalism, reminiscing about our journey over the past 10 years, and stories from past and present Rapplers, we listened to performances from some of our favorite guests from past Live Jams.

In this Live Jam, we share these performances with you.

Noel Cabangon, who has performed several times on Live Jam as a solo artist and with the band Buklod, performs “Bagong Umaga”.

Fil-Am rapper Ruby Ibarra and her band, the Balikbayans, perform “A Thousand Cuts” – the song Ruby wrote and named after Ramona Diaz’s documentary about Maria Ressa and Rappler.

Ruby and the Balikbayans first performed on Live Jam in 2019, in their final hours in the Philippines before returning to the United States. This invitation turned out to be a twist of fate – the first time Ruby met and connected with Maria and Ramona.

Nita Strauss, the Los Angeles-based guitar maker for the ALICE COOPER group, talked to “Heather & Wickett” from Des Moines radio station, Iowa Laser 103.3 on the progress of the writing and recording sessions for its 2018 follow-up “Controlled chaos” solo debut. She said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “It’s really cool for me to come out of what I was comfortable doing as a guitarist. I was really happy in that role as an instrumental guitar and I kind of got pushed to bottom of the pool kicking and screaming. And we couldn’t be happier. The song with David draiman [DISTURBED] is all we could have hoped for. We are, I believe, currently the highest charts single by a female solo artist of all time on rock radio, which is crazy to think.

“It was just a crazy trip,” she added. “And some of the collaborations that we have coming up for the album will really surprise you, some maybe will be people you would expect, but all of this I think is going to be a really cool next step for me as an artist. . “

Last month, Nita said to 105.5 WDHA radio that her next solo LP would be split ‘half and half’ between instrumental and non-instrumental cuts, “so six instrumental tracks and six tracks with guest singers,” she said.

Early December, Nita Recount “The Mistress Carrie Podcast” about his decision to make the next LP into half vocal and half instrumental songs: “I felt, and the label and everyone agreed, that it’s still important for me to keep my identity as a guitarist. and not to branch out too much and go, “Okay, well, now they’re just guests.” Leave me some more of what makes me myself, which is the instrumental shred stuff. So I think all the songs in general are more well thought out, better put together this time around And I have some of my absolute favorites. [singers guesting on it]. So far I have three amazing powerful singers on this album. And there are still a few things to be determined [to be determined]. And then we should be ready to go out next spring. “

Nonito Donaire (42-6, 28 KOs) continued a rematch with Japanese WBA star and IBF bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue. But if he can’t sign a deal for the expected rematch with “The Monster” Inoue, then “The Filipino Flash” has an alternate plan.

He will cut three pounds to face the winner of the upcoming trilogy between rivals Juan Francisco Estrada (42-3, 28 KOs) and Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (50-3, 41 KOs). Donaire expressed interest in taking on the winner of Estrada-Gonzalez in a recent appearance on the “Boxing With Chris Mannix” podcast.

The two protagonists’ third meeting will take place on March 5, 2022 at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California, USA, where Estrada will defend her WBA (Super) and The Ring super flyweight titles.

“I would love to,” Donaire said. “I would love to. I’m going into this mix with ‘Chocolatito’ and Estrada.… That would be great. I totally approve. I’m all for it.

The last time Donaire fought in the super fly division was on July 10, 2010, when he stopped Hernan Marquez in the eighth round at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum, San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he retained his WBA interim title of the super-flies. Twelve long years have passed and he is ready to return to super flyweight.

Donaire came down to the 118-pound bantamweight limit, two divisions below the maximum featherweight of 126 pounds, after suffering a 12-round unanimous decision loss to Carl Frampton on April 21, 2018 at the SSE Arena, Belfast , North Ireland .

“Gaining weight is such a simple thing for me,” Donaire said. “I mean, I could go down to 115 if I want to, you know, and still feel really strong. When I fought Inoue, I was actually 116 years old, so I had to [drink] a couple more [waters], some waters, to go up to 117, just a little below 118. So 116, you know, is right around the corner of 115.

Donaire comes off a fourth-round knockout victory over then-undefeated compatriot Reymart Gaballo (24-1, 20 KOs) on December 11, 2021 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. He really enjoys facing Inoue again, but if that doesn’t happen, the Las Vegas-based four-division champion sees winner Estrada-Gonzalez as another choice.

Estrada and Gonzalez made a great one-match thriller during their 12 rounds of nonstop fighting that fans cheered and enjoyed from start to finish. These two future Hall of Fame members met for the first time on November 17, 2012 and Gonzalez won a unanimous decision at Sports Arena in Los Angeles, California, United States for the WBA lightweight flyweight title.

The rematch lasted over eight years and the second bout took place on March 13, 2021 at the American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas, USA. Both super fighters showed their great talents with Estrada winning with a 12 round split decision. Estrada defended her WBC and The Ring super flyweight titles and won the WBA (Super) super flyweight title from Gonzalez.

Gonzalez, 34, from Managua, Nicaragua, will fight for the first time in a full year. Estrada, 31, from Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico, is also anxious to get back in the ring after 12 months of inactivity.

Estrada has won his last six fights since losing by majority decision to Srisaket Sor Rungvisai on February 24, 2018. Estrada avenged the loss to Sor Rungvisai by beating him 14 months later on April 26, 2019 by unanimous decision with their two fights held in The Forum in Inglewood, California.

Estrada is a two-weight world champion, The Ring and the current WBA (Super) super flyweight champion and previously held the WBA (Unified) and WBO flyweight titles and the WBC super flyweight titles. He beat famous opponents Brian Viloria, Giovani Segura, Hernan “Tyson” Marquez and Carlos Cuadras (twice).

Gonzalez lost consecutive fights to Sor Rungvisai in 2017. But his career was revived when he stopped Moises Fuentes and Diomel Diocos in successive fights. Gonzalez dethroned Khalid Yafai, then the WBA junior bantamweight title holder, on February 29, 2020 by knockout in the ninth round.

“Chocolatito” successfully defended the WBA title on October 23, 2020, beating Mexico’s Israel Gonzalez by unanimous decision. He now trains in Indio, Calif., And has won world titles in the four lowest weight classes – minimum weight, light flyweight, flyweight and super flyweight.

Donaire against Estrada or Donaire against Gonzalez will be really a hell of a fight.

Sleeping Beauty wakes up after 100 years of sleep – and a few years of COVID restrictions!

Members of the HATS Drama Group are busy rehearsing for a traditional family pantomime in Meppershall.

After a forced stupor due to the evil spell cast by her nemesis, Carabosse, Sleeping Beauty awakens.

“It’s kind of like coming out of a ‘lockdown’,” said Linda Winfield, president of HATS Drama Group, who will soon be performing at Meppershall Village Hall again after being forced to cancel their Spring 2020 production in mid-rehearsals last March. year.

“It’s great to be back on stage after such a long hiatus and we can’t wait to play our panto in front of packed houses at the end of January,” added Linda, who plays the villainous Carabosse.

Her counterpart, the Bonne Fée Azuriel, is played by Sue Bridger. Princess Aurora will be played by Carly Jackson.

Cat Surtees, who stars as Prince Valiant, a traditional main boy, is also eagerly awaiting his HATS debut, while James Ward is once again in his element as Lady Ammonia Goodbody.

Barney Shergold is the guest of court jester Tickles, and veterans Liz Stevens and Keith Lander play the King and Queen of Entertainia.

HATS is very happy to be back in Meppershall after moving all of its equipment from the now redundant Henlow Theater and converting Oak Hall into a well-equipped theater space.

The Sleeping Beauty is written by Norman Robbins and directed by Bridgette Whittaker.

In the panto, Tickles travels in his homemade time machine to avoid spending 100 years in sleepy isolation.

With him and a few courtiers from King Cedric’s palace is Lady Goodbody.

While the King, Queen and Lord Chamberlain, played by Keith Lander, Liz Stevens and Steph Allen respectively, are all still asleep, they stumble upon the mysterious Prince Valiant.

The prince is on the hunt for the beautiful Princess Aurora (Carly Jackson), hoping to wake her up with the traditional kiss.

However, the princess is taken over by the evil fairy Carabosse (Linda Winfield), requiring all the powers of the good fairy and her little helpers to win the day.

Everything will be revealed at Meppershall Village Hall, Walnut Tree Way, on Friday, January 21.

The performances will take place on Sunday January 23, Friday January 28, Saturday January 29 and Sunday January 30.

Tickets for the panto are priced at £ 12 for adults and £ 7 for children. They are available on www.ticketsource.co.uk/hats-drama.

Guest on Waste Some Time With Jason Green, former Hanoi Rocks / New York Dolls bassist Sami Yaffa spoke about his career history, Hanoi Rocks, and his new solo album.

Yaffa recalled their first tour of the United States and that he and drummer Razzle were planning to leave the band before Razzle’s untimely death.

Sami Yaffa, best known for his work with the New York Dolls, Michael Monroe Band and Hanoi Rocks, released his first solo album, The Innermost Journey To Your Outermost Mind, on September 22, 2021 via Livewire / Cargo Records.

Yaffa recently released “The Last Time”, the first single from the album.

“’The Last Time’ is one of the first songs I wrote for this album while I was still living in Brooklyn NY in 2015. It’s the story of two people whose communication is blocked. it’s hard to change your habits no matter how badly you want to. It’s all about the frustration and distress of addiction “- Sami Yaffa

Sami Yaffa has had a unique career as a musician. He joined the punk band Pelle Miljoona Oy at the age of 16 and performed on the now legendary album of the band Moottoritie On Kuuma. Pelle Miljoona Oy was the number one band in Finland at the time, but Yaffa and his future cohorts aimed higher: as the original member of the Hanoi Rocks group, he spent the first half of the 80s as a rock musician. international with all its ups, downs and pitfalls. The group influenced many groups that would later go on to become huge in the rock n ‘roll world – including Guns N’ Roses.

After the breakup of Hanoi Rocks, Yaffa was invited to join some of the most notable artists in R’n’R history such as Joan Jett And The Blackhearts 2002-04, as well as one of the major influences of Hanoi Rocks, the Dolls of New York 2004-10. In 2009, he founded a group with Hanoi Rocks singer Michael Monroe. This collaboration continues to this day, but now Yaffa also releases music under his own name.

“The idea for the solo album started to take shape a few years ago. Previously I had written music for the New York Dolls and the Michael Monroe Band, but now some of the songs I wrote and wrote were starting to sound more and more like my own stuff instead of this. that I would write for these groups. “

What kind of music did Yaffa release under his own name? Versatile. “I’ve always liked bands like The Clash and Rolling Stones. They could write country, funk, reggae, rock ‘n’ roll or jazz without fear and make it their own. I wanted to have that same kind of versatility and freedom for my own record.

The album has broad influences, but this is hardly surprising to those who have followed Yaffa’s career: in addition to his own musical career, he has come to know the musical traditions of different parts of the world as a host and co-creator of the television series Sami Yaffa: Sound Tracker. “However, my roots run deep in punk and rock’n’roll. I’m not afraid of it.

Even though this is a solo album, Sami has always been a member of bands and because of that, a team player. Yaffa mentions a few names without which the record would not have come to fruition – at least as it ended up being. The first to mention is a childhood friend, drummer Janne Haavisto with whom Sami made his first forays into the music world. Sami and Janne created the basic tracks together and invited precious friends and musicians to collaborate on the album. Rich Jones, guitarist of the band Michael Monroe helped put together a lot of songs on the lyric level, Christian Martucci of the band Stone Sour played guitar on half of the album, the other half was played by another old friend Rane from cult band Smack and Sami’s old brother from Hanoi days, Timo Kaltio.

Produced by Sam Yaffa. Mixed by Erno Laitinen. Mastered by Pauli Saastamoinen at Finnvox Studios. Recorded by Erno Laitinen / Sam Yaffa / Janne Haavisto / Jose “Puter” Puigserve.

Although many rock groups with successful debut records experience a slump in their sophomore year, The group came back roaring from their exceptional Big Pink music debut in 1968 with a superb eponymous second album in 1969. Their third release, the 1970s Stage fright, was damn good too.

Their fortunes eventually took a turn with album number four, although the magnitude of the turn is open to debate. It is difficult to say that the years 1971 Coalition is not a step back from its predecessors, but these records set a high standard. And it is probably this standard that has prompted many critics to pounce on the LP.

Each member of the band continues to perform beautifully on Coalition, and it certainly has its moments, including the funky “Life Is a Carnival”; “When I Paint My Masterpiece,” a composition by Bob Dylan that features a Garth Hudson atmospheric organ and makes its first appearance here; and “4% Pantomime,” a Robbie Robertson / Van Morrison co-writing which finds the latter guest to share the lead voice. But the rest of the material is lacking in varying degrees: numbers like “Smoke Signal” and “Shoot Out in Chinatown” are enjoyable if insignificant while songs like “The Moon Struck One” and “Volcano” seem to be mere filler. , although Hudson’s powerful sax work partially redeems the latter.

A new 50e– anniversary edition moves Coalition in the “Buy” column. On the one hand, it includes a CD with a new mix from Bob Clearmountain that makes everything sound a little better and a surround audio Blu-ray that makes it all sound. many better. Listening to them, you can conclude that the strength of performance outweighs the relative weakness of some elements.

Additionally, the Anniversary Edition adds other goodies, including a seven-inch vinyl single; a 180 gram vinyl LP; and eight bonus studio tracks, including alternate takes of “When I Paint My Masterpiece” and “4% Pantomime” and an unreleased instrumental version of “Life Is a Carnival”. The other carrots include three framed photo lithographs and a 20-page booklet with liner notes from Robertson and York University professor and musicologist Rob Bowman, who has long been associated with the group.

More importantly, the ensemble offers 50 minutes of never-before-seen material from a contemporary concert at the Olympia Theater in Paris that reaches many of the highlights of the band’s first three albums: “The WS Walcott Medicine Show,” “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down ”,“ Across the Great Divide ”,“ Rag Mama Rag ”,“ The Unfaithful Servant ”,“ Chest Fever ”and five other issues. The group may have been falling apart in composition at the time of this May 1971 concert; but as these performances demonstrate, they could certainly still serve as entertaining versions of their classics on stage.

ABBA: It’s like they never left

If you were in your thirties when the last album of new tracks ABBA came out, you’re 70 today, as the quartet – who are themselves now all in their seventies – come out Trip, its follow-up. Yes, it’s been 40 years between albums. The new record, however, sounds as if it could have been made at the same time as Visitors, its 1981 predecessor, which is good news or a little bad news, depending on whether you mostly hoped for more of that classic ABBA sound or some proof of artistic growth.

“I Still Have Faith in You”, the first number, offers a first clue that we are for the first, and of course: the album offers uplifting melodies, efficient use of synthesizers, a mixture of ballads and dancing rhythms . numbers, layered vocals, irresistible hooks and expert production… but nothing that doesn’t fit the LPs the band produced four decades ago. As on the first LPs, the lyrics are mostly banal; and the debates get a little too syrupy at times, especially on “Little Things”, a Christmas song featuring a children’s choir. But if you liked ABBA in 1981, you’ll like them in 2021.

JuMP On board Paul Kelly’s “Christmas train”

The vacation will be over by the time you read this, but get on board Paul kellyChristmas train and you will be transported to December 25. The Australian singer, songwriter and guitarist has always had eclectic tastes, and they are on full display on this album, one of the best seasonal releases of the year.

The 75-minute, 22-track CD, which employs numerous guest accompanists, includes “In the Hot Sun of a Christmas Day” by Gilberto Gil and “Christmas Must Be Tonight” by Robbie Robertson as well as standards like “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve? ” (with jazz singer Alma Zygier), “Silent Night” and “The Little Drummer Boy”. Here are also poems by Thomas Hardy and John Donne which Kelly set to music and a version of “Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)” with a voice by Australian singer Linda Bull that rivals the original Darlene Love produced by Phil Spector. Another highlight is the moving “How to Make Gravy,” one of Kelly’s best-known compositions, which finds an imprisoned protagonist singing for the family he misses on Christmas.

Alcoholism and drug addiction are two illnesses that many musicians struggle with, but they can be managed. Buckcherry frontman Josh Todd recently opened up about how he got sober about 27 years ago.

“The part of staying sober, like not drinking or using drugs, is not the hard part. The hard part is really managing your mind, for it is the mind that is broken. The alcoholic mind and the ‘Addictive mind is the problem, ”explained Todd. at RockSverige. “Drinking and consuming is only a symptom of the problem. The only solution is the spiritual solution, and I don’t mean to sound silly, but it’s the truth.”

“It is [being] spiritual in life and all these things, and how do you do that? Well for me doing annual inventories where I take it out of my head and write it down and tell someone else what’s going on with me. I meditate everyday, work with others, go to meetings and stuff like that. “

The singer admitted he struggled with alcohol and drugs for a long time, especially between the ages of 13 and 23. However, there were a few events in his life that helped him cleanse himself.

“My first daughter was born and she just turned 27. I was a broke musician back then. I was terrified and didn’t know how to be a father. I haven’t had a father since. age 10. I was trying to make my dreams come true and it was not happening and I had a huge alcohol and drug problem, ”he said.

Todd was also arrested once for drunk driving and had to start attending AA meetings as part of his DUI program. After meeting several people and hearing their stories, the singer realized that the disease of addiction can affect all types of people, not just musicians.

“And that’s when everything changed. I knew this was the last stop in the neighborhood. I was heading for prison, institutions or death,” he recalls. “I had already had alcohol poisoning when I was 23, and at one point my hands were paralyzed for a good hour and I didn’t know it was alcohol poisoning. It scared me. I got into it. had a lot of those moments of clarity while I was drinking and consuming but I couldn’t stop. “

And since then, he no longer uses substances.
