Averages are based on final national figures (live plus same-day viewing). Keep in mind that demo numbers are usually what’s most important to advertisers. So that’s how networks measure success. Advertisers generally pay more for the commercial time of a show with a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach. It’s also important to remember that the ratings are designed to estimate the number of people watching a show’s commercials, not the show itself. That’s what advertisers pay.

Amazon Prime VideoThe Italian original series “Prisma”, which will be launched on August 10 from the Locarno Film Festivalsees the streamer revisit the theme of gender identity fluidity after “Transparentwhile addressing a young adult audience and also connecting with Italy’s neorealist roots.

The eight-episode show (watch the exclusive clip) – which marks the first TV series to premiere at the famous Swiss festival dedicated to independent cinema – centers on identical teenage twins Marco and Andrea, who defy gender norms in different ways, as well as their group of friends who also go through a similar journey.

Prisma” is set in the town of Latina, just south of Rome, and its surroundings, which were once a swamp until the land was drained under the Fascist regime. The area is now known for its modernist architecture and fertile agriculture.

“Prisma,” which means prism in Italian, is the brainchild of Ludovico Bessegato, who rose to local prominence as the showrunner of “Skam Italia,” the Italian adaptation of the Nordic young adult drama that caused a stir in Italy. and plays on Netflix.

Bessegato, who directed “Prisma”, wrote the scripts with Alice Urciuolo, a writer from the Latina region.

It’s produced by Beta-owned Cross Productions, the shingle behind “Skam Italia.”

“Five years ago, by pure chance, I had the opportunity to tell stories about people younger than me, mentored by a Norwegian showrunner [and Skam creator] Julie Andem,” Bessegato said in her manager’s statement.

Now “After five years of this journey, I felt the need to take everything I learned and try to do something that is completely ours,” he added.

“Something that started from our observation of reality; of our context. Something that showed that we weren’t just good adapters, but were able to offer our own perspective on this world. A new story, which brings together years of study and observation of this world with our personal idea of cinema and our aesthetics.

“We started with the following fact,” noted Bessegato.

“All these years of meeting people younger than us had clearly shown us how many dualisms which until my generation had been unshakable dogmas were no longer so for them.”

“And we’re not just talking about sexual orientation and gender identity. We are talking about a generation that seems to live and choose intermediate spaces in the broadest possible sense.

“A generation and a world where the very concept of diversity no longer seems sufficient to describe reality. Since there is no more convergence with respect to an idea of normality, there cannot even be a uniform view with respect to that of diversity.

More normal, more different. Only an infinity of unique existences. We have borrowed the image of the optical prism, which manages to decompose light, only apparently white, into the infinite spectrum of colors that compose it.

squid game may be the most-watched Netflix original series of all time, but for the Emmy-nominated stars of Korean horror thriller, it’s all very personal.

“I am extremely grateful and grateful to all the global audiences who have shown so much love for squid game“, said Lee Jung-jae of the huge multi-Emmy-nominated dystopian hit created by Hwang Dong-hyuk. “I really did not expect it to be such a success,” added the veteran actor, who portrayed drug addict Seong Gi-hun in the quickly renewed series “I have to say that I still can’t believe it and I’m so grateful.”

Contenders TV: The Nominees – Complete Deadline Coverage

One of South Korea’s biggest stars for years and now recognized worldwide due to his character’s ultimate and costly victory in the deadly Squid Game competition, Lee was speaking today via the translation at Deadline’s Contenders Television: The Nominees event. He was joined on the panel by co-star and fellow Emmy nominee Jung Ho-yeon, who is up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Written and edited by Hwang, squid game depicts 456 misfits willfully playing children’s games with a lethal twist in hopes of a $38.7 million salary.

The deadliest plot twist of the ultra-violent tournament for the enjoyment of the ultra-rich is that everyone dies except the only well-paid winner.

Scoring an astounding 14 Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series and a Lead Actor nomination for Lee, September 2021’s acclaimed first season made history for more than just its massive viewership.

“I actually didn’t know there had ever been a non-English series to be nominated for Best Drama and to be nominated in so many categories,” Jung said of the unprecedented appreciation that the series received. “I’m…really surprised at how much history we’re writing,” said the former model, who made her acting debut in squid gameadded.

In addition to making television history with the Emmys, squid game already surpassed the precedent by being the first foreign-language television series to be nominated for a SAG Award.

Earlier this year, the show shattered more ceilings when it won Outstanding Action Performance as a Stunt Ensemble at the SAG Awards, where Lee won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series. . Maybe come back as another character for squid gameIn Jung Ho-Yeon’s second season, Jung Ho-Yeon won her own SAG honor for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.

AEW already has four programming blocks each week, including “AEW Dynamite” on TBS, “AEW Rampage” on TNT, and “AEW Dark: Elevation” and “AEW Dark” on YouTube. Now, a new report suggests that AEW’s fifth block could be coming to your TV soon.

According PWInsider, AEW filed a trademark yesterday for “All Elite Women.” Of the many purposes for which the term has been trademarked, the most notable may be “entertainment services in the nature of the creation, development and production of television programs” and “entertainment services in the nature of athletes professionals participating in wrestling competitions. “Additional filings have also been made regarding streaming content and merchandising.

As of this writing, it’s unconfirmed what this potential new show might entail, though the name suggests this new show would focus on some of AEW’s female stars. PWInsider speculates that the show could be a wrestling-based show, like “Dynamite”, “Rampage”, “Dark”, “Dark: Elevation”, or maybe even a reality show.

AEW has not commented on a potential new show and there was no indication that the promotion would add more programming to their roster. During an appearance on “Talk is Jericho” last winter with then-AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker, wrestling legend Jazz expressed her desire to see AEW launch an all-female program on the road. Jazz previously competed in AEW’s first-ever Women’s Casino Battle Royal at All Out 2019.

In the past, AEW has held two short-term programs dedicated to its women’s division. The first was in late summer 2020 when the promotion held Daily’s Place Women’s Deadly Draw Tag Team Tournament during the COVID-19 pandemic. After being streamed on YouTube, the tournament finals would take place on August 23 “AEW Dynamite”, with Diamante and Ivelisse defeating Brandi Rhodes and Allie (The Bunny) to win the tournament.

The second was the Japanese bracket for the AEW Women’s Eliminator tournament, which took place outside the Ice Ribbon Dojo in Japan in February 2021 and was streamed on Bleacher Report and YouTube. Ryo Mizunami would eventually win the Japanese bracket and win the entire tournament on the March 3 episode of “Dynamite”. She would lose her title shot to Hikaru Shida a few days later at AEW Revolution.

House Celebrity ‘Royal Pains’ star Mark Feuerstein joins Natalie Portman limited series at Apple…

Mark Feuerstein is one of the hardest working actors in Hollywood. He starred in the television series “Royal Pains” on USA Network for 8 seasons. He just finished two seasons of “The Baby Sitters Club” with Alicia Silverstone on Netflix, and two more seasons of “Power Book II: Ghost” on Starz.

Saturday night I bumped into Mark with his lovely parents and brother who were all having dinner at Nick and Toni are in Easthampton. Mark informs me that he has joined the cast of a new limited series on Apple TV Plus called “The Lady of the Lake” featuring two Oscar winners– Natalie Portman and Moses Ingram. The director is Alma Ha’rel, who caused a sensation by directing Shia Labeouf’the movie “Honey Boy” a few years ago.

In the Hamptons, Nick and TonyThat’s where the star power players go. So I wasn’t surprised to find that the table next to the Feuersteins was filled with Broadway’s A-list. The table itself needed a Playbill of its own! Two Lifetime Tony Award Winners — The Shubert Organization Robert Wankel and Jujamcyn Theaters Paul Libin – The Broadway giants were joined by their beautiful wives, Tony-winning lighting designer Ken Billington (“Chicago” plus just eight other nominations) and another special guest: the living legend’s director and choreographer Susan Stroman. She has only won five Tony Awards.

Susan’s latest hit, “POTUS,” ends its limited run at the Shubert Theater. Her acclaimed Gershwin musical ‘Crazy for You’ is currently enjoying a rave revival at the Chichester Theater in the UK, meaning it could soon return to Broadway.

And all this before the appetizers are served!

PS On my way out I spotted the comedian and actor Leslie Jordan rushing to a table on the terrace. Quite the scene for a night in the post-pandemic Hamptons!

Black Mirror comparisons are inevitable with this British tech series gone awry. Set in futuristic London, The Feed centers on an implant that allows people to stream their lives live without needing to press a button on a phone. No, absolutely nothing is wrong. An impressive cast includes David Thewlis and Michelle Fairley. While not as polished or deep as Black Mirror, The Feed is still worth a look.

Amazon Studios

Upload’s plan combines Black Mirror and The Good Place to offer a lighthearted view of the virtual afterlife. In the near future, humans may be uploaded to a digital paradise, where they can still interact with the living. Even in death, computer programmer Nathan cannot escape his overbearing girlfriend. Meanwhile, he has help solving what could have been his own murder. A sometimes witty comedy set in an ever intriguing digital space.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (1981)

Before the 2005 film starring Martin Freeman, Douglas Adams’ classic sci-fi comedy franchise brought this cult ’80s TV series. Making the most of visual trickery, the six-episode series successfully brought Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, Trillian, Zaphod Beeblebrox and Marvin on the small screen.

Humans may not be entirely original, but the assembled parts sing. A British family buys an artificially intelligent robot called a “synthesizer” to help them through their busy lives. This grounded approach to sentient and potentially dangerous robots is one of humans’ greatest strengths. At the center of the sweet: an innocent bond between the youngest daughter of the family and Anita, the elegant and efficient synth of Gemma Chan. A mystery draws the family into the origins of robots, which explore inescapable philosophical themes such as humanity, pain, memories and reality.

Electric Dreams (2017-2018)

Electric Dreams is aptly named, each episode of the anthology series is a vibrant, polished product purring to the ideas of its source material: the works of Philip K. Dick. As with most anthologies, some episodes are better than others, but if you fancy telling stories with Black Mirror-like setups, let that reverie slip away.

Amazon Studios

The Man in the High Castle (2015-2019)

The Man in the High Castle imagines an alternate history where the Axis powers (Rome-Berlin-Tokyo) win World War II. Based on a novel by Philip K. Dick, the series follows characters from the 1960s who live in a parallel universe, where Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan control the United States. But there are impossible news images surfacing of a world where Germany and Japan are losing the war, causing some to rebel. To really hammer home its dystopian credentials, The Man in the High Castle is helmed by producer Ridley Scott. Fully realized and with a focused plot, it’s gripping television.

Starz/YouTube/CNET Screenshot

The counterpart features JK Simmons playing against JK Simmons. Get excited about it for a second. Set in Germany during a Cold War, the sci-fi thriller follows a lowly office grunt discouraged by his grim life. Then one day he switches to work and meets, but a better version of a parallel world. Secrets, tense action and a masterful dual-role performance from Simmons make Counterpart a must watch.

Tales from the Loop (2020—)

Not just another show about a small town where weird things happen, Tales from the Loop has layers beneath its beautiful surface. Based on a narrative art book by Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag, the series is beautiful to watch. Meticulous and symmetrical frames somehow give off a painterly feel. The interconnected city dwellers are equally nuanced, their stories exploring loneliness, aging, and the impact of technology.

BBC America

In more ways than one, Orphan Black is Tatiana Maslany’s show. Before she becomes a household name thanks to Disney Plus’ upcoming She-Hulk, see her play no less than 14 characters in one series, including a hallucinated scorpion. Let that sink in for a second. Orphan Black weaves clever sci-fi concepts into a fast-paced, galloping thriller with more mystery and comedy in its stride. An essential sci-fi series exploring the debate between nature and nurture.

Amazon Studios

Night Sky isn’t the most evocative title, and the series doesn’t reach the sci-fi heights that some may be looking for. Although the series presents a slow-burning mystery involving an alien planet, its greatest strength is the touching, sometimes surprisingly funny drama between an old couple, the most unlikely of protagonists. Facing health issues, not to mention dangerous new guests, Franklin and Irene York (the huge JK Simmons and Sissy Spacek) do their best to make sense of a portal to a mysterious and desolate planet.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022—)

The Star Trek series keeps coming. Set in the decade before Star Trek: The Original Series, Strange New Worlds follows Captain Pike (Anson Mount) and the crew of the starship USS Enterprise as they boldly go where no one has gone before. With nods to the storytelling, storytelling, and episodic designs of the previous series, Strange New Worlds puts a contemporary spin on much-loved territory.

First video

For trippy sci-fi that asks you to turn on your wild theory generator, look no further than Outer Range. The sci-fi western is set on the Abbott family ranch, where the Royal patriarch (Josh Brolin) is hiding an all-powerful secret. When a stranger comes to town (Imogen Poots), he’s forced to confront his past, present, and future, and not just in a metaphorical sense. Bizarre in ways you wouldn’t expect, Outer Range is a solid sci-fi outing well worth keeping.

EPIX

This sci-fi horror centers on a small town plagued by mysterious and terrifying events. When a family gets lost, they are sucked into a nightmare involving deadly creatures and equally deadly townspeople. With enough storylines to keep you hooked and a strong protagonist in Harold Perrineau’s Sheriff Stevens, From is an enticing destination to hang out.

Showtime/YouTube/Screenshot

The Man Who Fell to Earth (2022—)

This series, based on the novel by Walter Tevis, features a stunning cast: Chiwetel Ejiofor plays an alien who lands on Earth seeking help from a brilliant scientist and Bill Nighy plays Thomas Jerome Newton, an alien who has fallen to Earth in the 1976 film. adaptation. The role was originally played by David Bowie and each episode of this movie sequel is named after one of Bowie’s songs. A more than solid and entertaining series that is best watched without comparing it to previous material. Although, if you’re not a fan of split timelines, beware.

Amazon Studios

Amazon rescued The Expanse from the realm of canceled television, bringing the series to six seasons. Thank goodness, because The Expanse is smart sci-fi with realistic characters, high production values, and a touch of detective noir. In a future where humanity has colonized the solar system, a plot threatens to ignite a cold war between the greatest powers. A band of anti-heroes find themselves in the center. Expect more space western themes in the still excellent later seasons.

Their centuries-old relationship is both familiar and new as AMC has made some subtle changes to the story, though the main lines of the tale remain intact. Among the most significant changes is the fact that the titular “interview” takes place at the end of this journalist’s career, as opposed to the beginning.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe, SDCC, heck, even this site! None of this would exist without Wesley Snipes. Before acting as a C-list vampire hunter Blade for the 1998 film directed by Stephen Norrington, the only successful superhero films featured Batman or Superman, and those franchises were on the decline. The only previous Marvel movie released in theaters was the notorious 1986 flop howard the duck. Most of the Marvel properties were lower quality straight to the VHS releases, such as the Punisher movie starring Dolph Lundgren that is missing a skull logo, or embarrassing TV movies, especially Nick FuryAgent of S.H.I.E.L.D. with David Hasselhoff in the title role.

With Blade, Snipes and his effortless aplomb transformed the tired superhero genre into something exciting, vibrant and cool. Despite the disastrous and controversial Blade Trinity, fans have long been clamoring for Snipes to return to the genre and join the MCU. Most expected him to make some sort of appearance in the Blade reboot currently in production, starring Mahershala Ali in the title role. But Snipes will show up earlier than expected, in the most surprising way.

As part of Marvel’s animation announcements at SDCC, the studio not only released a clip from the animated series Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil’s Dinosaur but also an overview of his list of guest voice actors. Next to hamilton starring Daveed Diggs and stranger things Breakout Maya Hawke, Wesley Snipes will voice an undisclosed character. Could it be Blade?

If Snipes plays the Daywalker, he will have to tone down his performance significantly. A children’s cartoon for the Disney Channel, Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil’s Dinosaur stars Diamond White as Lunella Lafayette aka Moon Girl, a little girl/genie who forms a bond with a red mutant T-Rex called Devil Dinosaur (voiced by animation veteran Fred Tatasciore). The 90-second clip featuring Moon Girl’s failed attempt to arrest burglars has a playful and irreverent tone that’s perfect for kids ages 7-13.
