“Dune”, “No Time to Die”, “West Side Story”, and more – deadline
In the ever-growing list of price shows, American Cinematheque throws its influence behind a new one they call Tribute to crafts, an in-person celebration of the artisans behind the scenes who don’t get as much attention during the season as their colleagues above the line seem to. The ceremony, which will attempt to rectify this oversight, will take place on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the Aero Theater of the Santa Monica Cinematheque.
The new show “will honor those who are at the very heart of cinema and have exhibited extraordinary work behind the camera, over the past year.” The evening will celebrate people in fourteen categories covering all aspects of cinema and feature clips from each of their respective films. The audience for this invitation-only event will be members of AMPAS, PGA, WGA, DGA, SAG-AFTRA, BAFTA and Critics Choice.
“Tribute to crafts is the perfect addition to our year round programming of panels featuring creative talent in front and behind the camera. Recognizing these people who made these extraordinary films, under the often difficult circumstances of the past year, is a true testament to their art, ”said Gwen Deglise, Associate Director and Co-Director of Programming at American Cinematheque.
