‘Hard Knocks’ to launch new in-season TV series after Colts starting in November
HBO’s “Hard Knocks” just wrapped up the 16th edition of the TV show that brings football fans to training camp with their favorite teams and players, but they’re going to try something new this season. At halftime of “Thursday Night Football” between the Giants and Washington, the NFL announced that “Hard Knocks” will be launching a multi-part in-season edition that will follow the Indianapolis Colts.
“Hard Knocks In Season: The Indianapolis Colts” premieres Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 10 p.m. ET, and follows the Colts as they battle through the regular season and battle to earn a playoff bid .
“We couldn’t be more excited to bring ‘Hard Knocks’ and the remarkable behind-the-scenes access it provides for an entire NFL season,” said Ross Ketover, senior executive at NFL Films, in a statement. “Thanks to HBO, along with the incredible cooperation of the Colts, we are able to deliver a revolutionary new edition of the series.”
The Colts are an interesting subject, as Frank Reich’s side made the playoffs as a wild card in 2020, but lost retired veteran quarterback Philip Rivers. Indy then made the decision to trade for former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz, who is looking to reinvent himself with his former coach.
“Hard Knocks” made his first appearance in 2001, as he followed Super Bowl champion, the Baltimore Ravens. In all, there have been 16 editions, the most recent being the Dallas Cowboys this offseason. This series ended a little over a week ago.
