LeBron James, LA prediction roasts Kendrick Perkins

The Los Angeles Lakers have been under scrutiny for most of the season. The fire that has been directed at LeBron James and Co. has received more vitriol lately, not thanks to a 3-11 record over their last 14 games.

It doesn’t matter if you’re LeBron James or Russell Westbrook, no one is spared the watchful eyes of critics. Just recently, bad catch sleuths unearthed a badly aged statement from former NBA player Kendrick Perkins. In said comment made during a guest on ESPN’s The Jump, as transcribed by Clutch pointsPerk went all-in on the Lakers.

“You can’t tell me you’re going to have LeBron, Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, Carmelo Anthony, Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard, Trevor Ariza… I’d be surprised if they didn’t scratch the surface of a 70-win season .

Kendrick Perkins must have thought we’re living in 2014. If that was the case, the Lakers would have received the Larry O’Brien Trophy on opening night. It’s 2022, however, and a lot has happened over the last eight years, including some of the players mentioned above who are naturally declining.

Of course, the Twitterverse won’t allow Perkins to go unscathed for making such a prediction.

It’s just bad.

As of this writing, the Lakers (27-35) are ninth in the Western Conference standings. A first trip to Cancun is very much in the balance as the retooled New Orleans Pelicans and the supposedly gutted Portland Trail Blazers lurk behind.

Truth be told, Los Angeles has the staff to keep its head above water. The Lakers’ biggest enemy is themselves. Ditch the poor body language. Reignite that killer instinct. Easier said than done, right? Just like making grandiose expectations on an aging roster.

Now go on.
