Praise Petey: Freeform Orders Animated Comedy Series – Canceled + Renewed TV Shows
Praise Petey heads to Freeform. The network commissioned the animated series from Anne Drezen. Starring Annie Murphy, John Cho, Christine Baranski, Kiersey Clemons, Amy Hill and Stephen Root, the series follows a troubled young woman whose life was changed thanks to a gift from her father.
“Freeform ordered the half-hour animated series Praise Petey (working title) by designer, screenwriter and executive producer Anna Drezen (lead writer, Saturday Night Live) and executive producer Monica Padrick (Central park), with Mike Judge, Greg Daniels and Dustin Davis of Bandera Entertainment, and Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico of ShadowMachine. The series is produced by 20th Television Animation of Disney Television Studios, with animation by ShadowMachine.
âPraise Peteyâ (working title) follows Petey, an âitâ girl from New York who has it all until her life crumbles around her. Luckily, a mysterious gift from her father breathes new life into her: she is going to “look into” the modernization of her cult of the small town.

The series stars Annie Murphy (Schitt Creek) as Petey, once the girl who had it all, she now must use her urban intelligence to reorganize her father’s failing sect and become a better leader than him, a much more laid back leader – a nice – a boss!
