Something Kills Children’s TV Series Coming From Mike Flanagan – / Movie
If you saw Doctor Sleep you know if there is one thing you can say Mike Flanagan it’s that he’s really good at killing children. In the cinema of course! Call the lawyers back, Mike, I cleared it up there at the last second.
But seriously, he brutally slaughters poor little Jacob Tremblay (aka America’s younger brother) in that movie, so it’s not at all surprising to me that if Netflix does a comic book adaptation. Something is killing the children and Mike Flanagan is involved in it.
The comic started life as a limited edition book in 2019, but due to overwhelming fan demand, the publisher, BOOM! Studios, kept it going. Written by James tynion iv and illustrated by Werther Dell’Edera, Something is killing the children is about⦠well, something that kills children. Here’s the official synopsis:
When the children of Archer’s Peak, a sleepy town in the heart of America, begin to disappear, all seems hopeless. Most kids never come back, but those with terrible stories – impossible details about terrifying creatures that live in the shadows. Their only hope of finding and eliminating the threat is the arrival of a mysterious stranger, the one who believes the children and claims to be the only one to see what they can see.
Her name is Erica Slaughter. She kills monsters. That’s all she does, and she bears the cost because it has to be done.
Slaughter has proven to be a fan favorite, an inspiring cosplay, and tons of fan art since her early days in the books, so this should appeal to fans of the comic book series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Flanagan is developing this project with Trevor Macy. The duo will produce and co-write the pilot with Macy’s as the showrunner. They have already worked on both Doctor Sleep and the cinema Gerald’s game as well as horror shows The Haunting of Hill House and The Haunting of Bly’s Mansion. They also completed two other rounds, Midnight Mass and The midnight club (which are not related to each other) too. Everything but Doctor Sleep was in the Netflix ecosystem.
So this Flanagan stays busy and it looks like a good fit for him and his production shingle, Intrepid. I’m sure he will find a way to hurt poor Jacob Tremblay again. Just give him an excuse!
