“Not this year,” Waititi said in an interview with TheWrap when asked if he would start the project soon. “I’m going to be in New Zealand from August until the end of the year with Our flag means death and bandits of time and during this time I will write again. I’m still trying to figure out what the story is.
Information about Waititi’s film is still unknown, although in previous interviews the director has said he would like to do something completely new for the world. However, in an interview with The New York Times, Waititi also acknowledged that he is still trying to come up with the idea, who will decide how they will proceed.
“I try to write the star wars idea at the moment,” Waititi said. “I have to see how it goes because once I submit it, it might determine when it’s made or if it’s made, even.”

The future of star wars Movies have been a hot topic of conversation lately, especially due to the growing popularity of the many Disney+ TV series currently in the works. As far as movies go, the only two movies currently in the pipeline for star wars are Waititi’s film, and the Thieves Squadron movie that director Patty Jenkins is set to shoot at some unknown time in the future. A planned Rian Johnson trilogy had also been announced but appears to be on the back burner for now.
